We are Meta Fide, a software company based in Los Angeles, California. Our website address is www.metafide.com.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Account and billing information

When visitors create a new account we collect their contact information. When visitors purchase items as a registered users or as guest visitors we collect their billing information for the explicit purpose of actuating a transaction.

Mail opt-in

When visitors opt-in to join our mailing list we collect their email and IP addresses and the time and date of opt-in.

Product support questions and answers

When visitors leave product support questions and answers on the site we collect the data displayed in the support page form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your support question or answer, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your question or answer.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you interact with our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details on subsequent visits. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Who we share your data with

Analytics

Personally non-identifiable data is passed to Google Analytics for the purpose of generating usage statistics for this site. For more information read Google Analytics privacy policy.

Anti-spam

Support page questions and answers may be checked through an automated spam detection service. This data contains no visitor identifiable information unless explicitly provided by the visitor within the body of the message. In other words, you should never include any personal information in the text of a support question or an answer.

Credit card processor

Credit cards are processed through Paypal, a GDPR compliant payment processor.  In order to process a transaction, Paypal collects personal data including, but not limited to your name, credit card number, and IP address. Paypal safeguards this information very carefully and does not share it with third parties except in strictly limited cases, including disclosures to law enforcement agencies. At no time are we in possession of your credit card number or any other financial information.

Mailing list

The strictly opt-in mailing list information is stored by MailMunch, a GDPR compliant data processor.

How long we retain your data

Support page questions and answers and their metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so other visitors can benefit from peer support.

For users who register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have participated in the support page discussion, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.

You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. When requesting an erasure request your account information is deleted and you will no longer be able to download purchased products.
